Director of Bands-Mr. Joe Calderon
JOSEPH CALDERON received his bachelor’s degree in Commercial Music and Master’s in Performance from Azusa Pacific University in Azusa, California. While in school he had the distinct privilege of studying trumpet with Charley Davis, Robert Slack and Rob Roy McGregor. Mr. Calderon has been blessed with the opportunity to travel all over the United States performing with various musical ensembles and has also travelled to France, Australia and Japan performing with the Blue Note Orchestra. Mr. Calderon has taught at both private and public institutions over the past 20 years teaching elementary to college level classes. While Director at Gladstone High School, he also had the position of District Music Coordinator, overseeing the entire choral and instrumental music programs in AUSD. Mr. Calderon has been an adjunct professor at Citrus College for the past 8 years and has taught Brass Choir and multiple Pop Ensembles. Mr. Calderon is married to his beautiful wife Yolanda Calderon and they have an wonderful and talented son named Joseph Calderon IV who is currently 6 years old.
Mr. Calderon believes music teaches his students to have an appreciation for the arts and develop the necessary skills needed to be successful in any field of study they choose to pursue in today's society .
